#63 A waaaay busy week!!

Well this has been a crazy busy week... but lots of fun and it's gone way fast!! Hope you enjoy the read. And if you don't... well I'm not sure what I can do about it:)).
Wednesday was a pretty crazy day. So we started out the day with going to district council. We had a Skype one this week so we just went to the church and we had a good district council there. And that got our day started off good. Then we went straight from there to a members house for a lunch appointment and some language study. This guy is teaching us just the basics of Finnish and Swedish and help us get a grasp of it. He taught us about the Finnish cases and just went over the simpler things... and next time we will study some of the more rare ones. So it will be fun to do that with him. His wife made some pretty good food as well so it was fun getting to know them better. After that we went back to prepare for a lesson and immediately left right after that to go meet with him. He's this way cool guy from Italy and we had a way good talk. Turns out too he's possibly gonna get one of his books published in the new year so that's way cool. But we had a talk with him about God and also what we do as missionaries and got to know each other. On our way out we asked him about his pool table cause it's different than any one that I've seen. And he's like  "oh I gotta show you... we will just have to play one game" and he showed us how to play but he got too excited so we played 2 with him:)). But also he's one of the nicest people you will meet:)  After visiting him we went and biked straight to our youth night wich is pretty much young women cause no boys come Haha. But we played ping pong with them and it got a little crazy:)). Elder Roylance shared a spiritual thought and then we ate some stuff that the girls made. We had a good time there and it was a lot of fun. And to end our very busy day we came home to study some Swedish. Such a busy day.... it was just go go go the entire day haha.
Thursday was such a busy day... holy cow we were just running from one thing after another  that day. So in the morning we did our usual Thursday morning service for the elderly man that we help out. It's always good to see him... we see him quite a bit but a good way to start the day. And after that we came back for a quick lunch and the  we went to do a quick planning for a couple lessons that we had that day. So we went straight from there. We had a good talk with our friend.... got to know him... and there are surprisingly a lot of people here that really love Elvis:)). He had a lot of Elvis stuff. But we talked to him cause he's been meeting with missionaries for a while but is having a hard time keeping commitments... so we talked with him about that and tried to see if he can come to church this week...so we will see what happens there.  Then we went and biked to our next lesson but turns out they were not home. So we worked some magic and moved the lesson to later and moved our service for a member to right then. So we went and helped him clean out his shed and move stuff over to his sons place cause he's building a house right next door. So we did that and then talked with him and his wife. That was a lot of fun and they are way nice people so it was a good time with them. We then hurried back to get some dinner and then went over to our lesson that we had rescheduled. This was a way good lesson. We sat and chatted for a little bit and then had a way good talk about the plan of salvation. They liked the sound of it and we also committed them to church and reading and praying and they said yes to all of it so yay for them:). They are so funny to so it's a lot of fun teaching them. Funny story... At the end of the lesson one of them shows me a picture. "Do you know what this is?"..."Yeah that's marijuana"... "this cop came and took it again. The third time!!" ..... "well maybe you shouldn't be growing it then they won't take it from you." And we had a good laugh with it. Good thing too... he hasn't smoked it in almost a year... so that's way good for him:)). Now we are just helping with the rest. But we had a good laugh and a good conversation about it and we know what we will be talking about next time as well Haha. Then we ended the night studying Swedish.
Friday we had to head to Seinäjoki to give a baptismal interview but with the train tickets we got from the APs we had a whole day down there... so we got up early and hopped on a bus and a train down to Seinäjoki. So we got there pretty early in the day and we did studies in the morning until lunch. Then me and Elder Lebaron went out to do some work and go tracting. Elder Lebaron is a way fun missionary and we had a good time tracting and talking to people and sharing stories. Had some good laughs together. We didn't really find anyone but we had a good time. Then we went to pick up the other elders and we switched. Elder Roylance and LeBaron went to do the baptismal interview and me and Elder Johnson went tracting. Elder Johnson has been here for like a week now and speaks some good Finnish. But we went tracting and talked to the nicest people. They were way willing to talk for a little bit even if they weren't all that interested. We met some nice people and me and elder Johnson  had some good times and laughs while out tracting. We got picked up by the elders later that night and went back and had some good old chicken and baked beans for dinner with cheese and sour cream. It was a pretty tasty meal. We sat and talked for the rest of the meal time and then it was time for us to catch our train back to Jakobstad. So we hopped on the train and rode back studying Swedish on the way and that was about the end of our night.
Saturday was a pretty quick day for us. We went out that morning to go do some tracting and we had some pretty good buildings to tract... but sadly not a lot of people were home on that Saturday morning. There weren't too many people interested... but that is okay. We went back for some lunch and started weekly planning. We got a little bit into that before we got invited by one of our investigators to go for a nature walk in the woods by the church. So we took a break on planning and went with our investigator to spend some time with them and walk with them. We had a good time and it was fun to go for a nice walk in the woods. The woods are literally everywhere though which is kinda funny. Like I don't think I've ever seen so many trees in my life. But we had a good time and walked along this nice path in the woods which I think in the winter becomes a cross country skiing pass. After we were done spending time with our investigator... we had to bike to a DA with a less active member. And it was the fastest DA ever. We knew he was in a hurry but we didn't know how big of a hurry. We were in and out in less than 15 min haha. At the 15 min mark we were biking home Haha. But we did get some McDonald's so that was nice of him to get for us. Some big mac's, fries, and a drink. And on the way home we stopped by the cemetery cause it was Pyhäinpäivä and it's where everyone goes to put candles on the graves so we walked around to check it out and got some cool pictures of candles and stuff. Then  we went back and the rest of the night we finished planning and we studied Swedish Haha.
Sunday was a really good day. We went to church and it was fast Sunday. I did have a little hard time paying attention cause I could hear was Swedish, Finnish, and English translation so my brain was having a hard time concentrating on one language Haha. But church was good and it was good to see some members again. Then after church we went and did some studies and we went out tracting. We actually talked to one lady who took a book so that was pretty cool. Then pretty much everyone else after that said no to us if they answered the door haha. But we went back and made some pizza for dinner and that was pretty good. We then after dinner got all bundled up and biked out to an area to follow up with a former investigator and they just let us in and played some Swedish gospel music for us and gave us some soda and cookies. So it turned out to be a good visit and get out of the cold. But they were a fun old couple and just wanted to chat with us so it was a little hard to get out the door:) Then we biked back and we studied some Swedish and read in the Book of Mormon. I think my pronunciation is getting better so hey we are getting better.  We are trying to learn it and figure it out but its a  adventure. I may not have the best looking map on this adventure but that's what makes it fun right? But Sunday was a pretty good day.
Monday was a good day. We had a good day of tracting but the best  part of the day was the lesson we had at the end of the day. We were going to teach our friends about the word of wisdom. We got there and they explained to us that they couldn't come to church cause they found out they were pregnant:). But we had a GREAT lesson on the word of wisdom. And it was so fun as well. But here are just some tidbits of what was said that lesson. "Its great to smoke weed after you work out cause you get super hungry and you can eat to help your muscles"... "food tastes so good when you smoke weed...  You just think it tastes better cause your high.... Exactly it's great!"..."for obese people it's like Satan has cursed them with eternal munchies" .... Let's just say we talked for a long time but in the end it all worked out for the best!

But it's been a great week and lots of fun. We are surviving the winter and having fun!
Have a good week
