Well everyone... it's been the first week without any travel and it's been nice! But another week has come and gone.
Wednesday was a pretty good day. Since we had District council on Monday we didn't have our usual meeting.. so we got to do a good morning tracting session. It was pretty slippery while biking but we did not fall. Actually we haven't fallen off our bikes in a few weeks... so I guess you could say we are pros.:)) But we went tracting... we were also pretty surprised that we didn't talk to a single person that spoke Swedish!:) They all spoke Finnish. That was pretty surprising. So we went back for lunch after that. We did some studies and then went to go teach a lesson. But our man was not there so we went back to get some quick dinner and then we went to the church and got some things done we needed and then went to our youth night. That was pretty fun. We baked ginger bread cookies and as in usually fashion.... mom already knows I ate more dough than made actual cookies:)) Well 15 years later things still don't change:)) The dough is way better. The cookies are good but that dough is something Haha. We also sang some Christmas songs and did some stuff to get ready for the Christmas party next week. After that we went back for the night to study some Swedish.
Thursday was a pretty normal day with not much going on. We went over to do some service for our friend that we do service for every week. This time we put up some more christmas decorations for him....helped him with his computer... and helped him with some batteries. He even showed us some of the stuff he does in rehabilitation. So that was kinda cool. We went back for some studies and for lunch and then we went back out again. It's kinda weird cause by the time we go back out to tract the sun has already set and it's dark. But we went out for a good tracting block. We did visit a potential we had found to try to set something up and invite her to the christmas party. Very nice old lady and she said she would try to come. She was just about the only person that we got to talk to. Nobody else was home or just didn't want to answer the door Haha. Then we went back to grab some dinner and then went out tracting again and we got a few answers but nobody was interested. But that's okay cause we finished off the night with Swedish study and that was good.
Friday was Itsenäisyyspäivä, which is Finland's Independence day. Here in Finland it doesn't seem like they do much. Well at least I haven't seen anything here in Jakobstad and last year I was in Kajaani. Been chilling in small towns Haha. But an update on the bikes... yeah both me and Elder Roylnace feel off our bikes that day and in the same spot. Luckily I fell before he did if not I probably would have run him over with my bike and then crashed. But it was probably the most graceful fall you ever did see. We had a good laugh about it and kept on going. But in the morning we had a lesson with a less active member. We watched the Christ Child video with him and talked about doing member missionary work. I still am a little confused sometimes cause this guy believes he doesn't exist:) So it's a little tricky talking to him. We went back and had some lunch and then did weekly planning. Kinda good we had weekly planning cause we can't tract on this day... so it makes doing work in the area pretty hard. So we weekly planned and went to a lesson. Our man was not there so we biked back and got some dinner and back to the church and typed up a spiritual thought to the ward. These take a while cause we have to type the same message in English, Swedish, and Finnish. So they take a little bit Haha. And then we went home and did some Swedish studies and that was the end of our day.
Saturday we got up and we did our studies in the morning. We thought we would have a lesson later so we prepped for that and did all our studies in the morning. But they canceled on us so that meant we had a fat tracting block ahead of us. We had a little over 4 hours so we started knocking. We were just blowing through these streets. We knocked so many doors but wow I think we had more answers this block than we have had all transfer. We talked to a lot of people and handed out 2 Book of Mormons!! So that was way cool and met some cool people. We went back and had some dinner and then back to tracting again and we were pounding through the doors. Talked to a few people, we handed out another Book of Mormon and we ended the night talking to this way cool lady from England. She told us she was too lazy to come down to the door so she just opened her window Haha. Not much that happened except we came back feeling fulfilled and very tired cause walking around knocking doors for like 7 hours makes ya tired Haha. Then we finished off the night studying some Swedish.
Sunday was a low key day. We went to church and spent time with the members and met with our ward mission leader. Not a lot of people were at church today so we just had a small group haha. But then we went home and had some lunch and then headed out to an English Christmas Carol service at the local Lutheran church. One of our friends invited us to go sing Christmas songs at the church with him. So we went to sing christmas songs with him. That was pretty fun and also a chance to meet other people. After the singing they had refreshments and we went and we talked with the pastor of the church for a little bit and then some other people high up in their church cause they kept coming over to talk to us...and thanking us that we came. We came back after that and had sweet pork burritos! Haven't had those in a while but man they were way good!!:) Then the zone leaders messaged us and we had to do some stuff for the district and that took up quite a while and then we ended the night studying Swedish. So it was a pretty low key day but a good day.
Monday was a pretty good day. We went and we did our studies in the morning. And then we had some lunch and then headed out to go tracting. We had another long tracting block and really nobody was home or wanted to talk to us. But we did stop on our bikes to talk to this guy shoveling snow. We offered to help but he didn't want any. We kept talking to him and he eventually took a Book of Mormon and he said we could come back. We had a real good conversation and we were happy we kept talking to him cause we easily could have left. But then we went home and had some dinner and then went to teach our friend at the library and had s good lesson about how God is always there for us. And then we finished the night studying Swedish.
Well we got mission tour this week so that should be way fun so we are excited for it!
