Wednesday we got up and did our usual of studying and then getting out hitting the pavement and tracting to go find some people. These can always bring some interesting people out of their homes and you have some interesting conversations with them:) So you know we are out knocking door, after door, after door. Get to this last door... nothing hahah. So ya know we are like.. lets knock on this door...and this guy from Africa answers the door and I start talking to him... and it starts out with him telling me how he was a Muslum but was also a Buddhist that believed in Hinduism. Not sure how that's possible, but hey it works for him haha. So we introduce the church and the Book of Mormon and he is pretty interested in the book and then he asks me " Are you God?" and I'm like "Ummm what?" and he's like "Are you God?"... and so we go back and forth about me trying to explain how we believe in God and we teach about him but no we are not God:). Really funny guy to talk to:)) We had a pretty normal tracting session after that. That night we went and got some KEBAB which is dang good. They should bring it to America so you can try it!! Then we had a lesson with a new investigator and he is sooo cool!! We asked if he had read anything from the Book of Mormon and he said he had only read 1 Nephi chapters 1-16 haha. I was like holy cow you read a ton and that is great cause sometimes it's hard to get people to even read a page:) but he then went on to tell us that he has a goal to finish the book. This guy is a stud and just a way nice guy. So that was great getting to meet with him.
Thursday we had district meeting. And that was a ton of fun getting to hang out with the district again and we took district photos! Sadly I don't have them yet so it will be a little bit till you get to see them haha. We are a weird but a fun bunch:)) We had a good district meeting and then we went back to the ZL´s apartment to hang out and get some dinner cause our bus was cancelled. After that me and Elder Reed became a couple of unlucky missionaries:). So we went to the train station and we are running up the stairs to catch our train and just as we get to the top of the platform, the train starts to pull out of the station, and we had missed it:) So we went back to the zone leaders car and we had to spend the night with them in Oulu which turned out to be a lot of fun. So Thursday was Itsenaisyyspäivä, which is Finland's Independance day. We are not allowed to tract on that day and street contacting is not really possible because everyone is out partying and getting drunk... so there is nobody in the streets. So we went and took a trip to the cemetery to look at all the candles that people put on ancestors graves, and it looks so cool cause there are thousands of candles. We talked to a few people in the cemetery and got a potential which was way cool, and then we got back to the apartment at 9 and then just spent the night with Elder Haws and Elder Viitanen. We played games and just had a good time hanging out and talking.
Friday we got up and had to catch a train at 7 in the morning that went back to Kajaani...and so we got up early and got to the train station and got on our train. The train has free water and they come in the same things that your fruit cups come in, which is weird but funny... so you will see a picture of that haha. We took our train back to Kajaani, and we continued with our day that we had planned. That night we went and taught one of our investigators and had a really good lesson about baptism. He is still hesitant to work towards a baptismal date but he said he would think about it and maybe some day... so that's a win in my book:). Now ya know how I said me and Elder Reed were an unlucky couple of elders? Well round two hit and we came out of our lesson and we had a parking ticket!!. Now that kinda blows. In Finland you have to put up a little parking clock on your dash and say what time you got there so that they can tell if you have parked there longer than the allowed limit. This was the first time either one of us had forgotten to check if we had put it up and that came back to bite us in the butt haha. Lucky for us that was the last bit of bad luck we had:)
Saturday was a day full of service and lessons. The first half of the day we were helping our branch president move some stuff to his new apartment and then we went to help a former investigator who is really good friends with the missionaries. We helped her move from one apartment to another one so that was fun. She was very grateful that we could come and help her out with that. That night we had a couple of more lessons that were successful. We got to meet with our one investigator from the Congo and she is so funny and it's so fun to go over and teach her. We brought one of our members with us and he is an amazing member missionary. He loves coming to help the missionaries. He told me that my pronunciation was getting real good which was a huge compliment to me, cause that is something me and Elder Reed have been working on this transfer. The language is getting better and this week I've been able to understand more than I have before so yay for me haha. The Finnish is starting to come along!!.
Sunday we had church and church is fun cause you actually get to talk to everyone in church cause we have like 15 people show up:) But they are the nicest members and are so great to talk to and get to know. But after sacrament meeting the branch president came up to us and was like " I need you guys to teach Sunday school so you got like 5 min to prepare a 40 min lesson" hahah and then he's like "Elder Love you can do it! Just do it!" With a big smile on his face after he'd seen the look on my face. It was pretty funny:). But we did it! We taught all 40 min about commandments to the 4 people in Sunday school:) and thanks to this nice lady who answered all our questions, cause if not it would have been just me and Elder Reed talking and that is it:) But after church we took a trip to Otanmäki and went to follow up with some potentials out there and went to see if we could find some new ones. We found some! It was a successful tracting block, yet no matter what you find they are always successful, cause you can't really lose when you are teaching about the Gospel. But we met some really cool people and they are so nice. It's so fun when you get to meet new people and talk with them. We then went over to a members house who had invited us over for some dessert and she asked us questions about Utah and how to get to Salt Lake cause she's going to Utah on vacation in a couple of weeks... so that was fun. Then to end the night we helped our branch president pick up a washing machine from some guy that he bought it from and move it out of that apartment to his apartment. So Sunday was another great day.
Monday we did studies and then the former investigator we helped move wanted to buy us pizza to say thank you, and I'll never turn down free food:). We went to a place called "Koti pizza" Which in English translates to "House Pizza" cause Koti is one of like the 5 words for House ahah. But it was so good, its called the Texas and it came with pepperoni, bacon, ham, and kebab. That was by far the best pizza I've had in all of Finland. That was amazing. Then we left and took a trip out to Sotkamo and went to follow up with some potentials and try to find some more. We met some way nice people who were interested and met these nice old ladies who talked to us for a while. They are so funny cause they are like " What can I do for these handsome boys" haha.. they crack me up haha. Then we spent the day out there, came back to Kajaani and had our second lesson with our investigator who had read 16 chapters in the Book of Mormon and had an amazing lesson with him. We gave him a soft baptismal invite and he said yes so our next meeting with him we are going to try to get him a solid baptismal date! He is way cool and so I think this will go through.
That's all I wrote folks:))This has been another great week in Finland!!! Finland is so amazing and I am loving every second that I get to have here. Thanks for all the support!
Love y'all
Elder Love out
