Well this is what we did the week before christmas. It was pretty fun!
Wednesday we started out with district council. It was on the computer so we just skyped them all from the church like we usually do when we do them online. But it was really good. We talked about and reviewed what happened at mission tour. Mission tour this year was really good so it was good to read over the notes and talk about it. After district council we went back to the apartment and did studies. We did studies and started going over a few things...and cleaning... cause we had apartment inspections the next day. So we cleaned and got rid of a lot of stuff left over by older missionaries. We made some dinner and then went and met one of our members at the church cause she wanted us to go drop off some gifts to a non member family.... so we were the delivery boys for that. That may have also been just an errand to give us something to do...we didn't come to ward council cause it happened while we were out being the posti boys:)). But after that we came back to the apartment and we called one of our investigators and talked with her for like 2 hours and practically taught a lesson over the phone... but it went really good.
Thursday was kinda busy. We met with one of our investigators at 9 in the morning at a coffee shop cause that was one of the only places open at 9 in the morning. I got myself one of their pastries and a gnarly looking hot chocolate. Come to think of it, probably not the best idea to order drinks at a coffee shop cause they all look like coffee. But I wasn't two worried cause my comp got one as well and it was just us, our investigator, and the people working there and they knew I ordered hot chocolate so we were good:)). After our meeting.. we biked over to help our disabled friend with some of his lights on the outside. They apparently weren't working properly. We rushed back after cause we were supposed to have our apartment inspections. But they were like 3 and a half hours late:)). So we did studies while we waited for them to come and we had a dinner appointment later that night. During the inspection we had some new senior missionaries doing it and one of them asked me "so you said you're from Utah... but where are you from... cause you have a southern accent" so apparently I speak with a bit of a southern accent... but also this is not the first time I've heard this so maybe it's true?:)) After the inspection our German friend was like "hey can you bake that apple pie we talked about and bring it?" Well we ran to the store and picked up stuff to bake a pie and we whipped out a pie way quick, had apartment inspections and them rushed over to our dinner appointment. It was so much fun eating with these members. They have a huge CD collection so we were looking at their collection and about different artists they have. But I swear they have like a million CDs. We got some good Brazilian food cause his wife is from Brazil and then we had my apple pie for dessert and then watched the Christ Child video. After that they gave us each a Christmas present...which consisted of a huge candy bar, a postcard with their emails on them, mango juice, chicken nuggets, and lunch meat. I thought that was pretty cool and it was way nice of them to give us something for Christmas. Then we rushed over to the church to meet a family to teach them Finnish. Well they couldn't come so we just went back for the time we had left and studied Swedish.
Friday we got up and we got ready for the day and we went to the bus station to head to the train station. We were on our way to Seinäjoki for splits. So pretty much on the train ride down we just studied. We got to Seinäjoki and had some lunch. Elder Lebaron had bought some Blood Sausage for us to try. Honestly not as bad as I thought it was gonna be. Like it's not gross but not something that I would purposely buy if that makes sense. It was just an experience Haha. After lunch we went contacting and talked to some way cool people. Talked to a Lutheran priest. We went back and then did some studies and had dinner. Elder Lebaron had made his salmon casserole which is wayyy good. So I was pretty pumped for dinner when I found out we were having that. We started making a ton of hot chocolate cause we were doing a hot chocolate stand in the center like we did in Oulu. This was way fun! There were not a lot of people cause the city was pretty dead but you already know that pretty much anyone that walked through the center was talked to. A drunk guy who had finished peeing from behind a pole invited Elder Lebaron and I to go get some drinks with him at a bar. We kindly rejected and offered him more hot chocolate instead. Me and Elder Lebaron walked around the city with cups, gingerbread cookies, and a thermos offering people hot chocolate... to try to get more people. I also made elder Lebaron laugh so hard he spit his hot chocolate out and it came out his nose Haha. We had a lot of fun walking around and doing the stand. After we had finished our stand we went back and drank some more hot chocolate and ate more cookies and played some table hockey which was way fun. And we were just up talking and sharing stories for quite a while just having to much fun chatting. But it was way fun!!!
Saturday the next morning we got up and got ready and did all our stuff. Elder Johnson and I went out for a tracting block and it was like walking around on an ice rink. There was not one dry spot on the road but we did not fall. Not too many people were all that into talking to us that morning but it still went good. Then we went back for some studies and some lunch. Then me and Elder Johnson were going to teach a lesson to a less active member and then go tracting. Well we got to his place and he was not there and we're like well let's go tracting. And we tracted for a while and then decided it would be better for us to street contact.. so we just walked around Seinäjoki street contacting people. But it seems like they didn't want to talk so it was more just Elder Johnson and I telling people Merry Christmas.:)) After that we got picked up and went to the train station and did an exchange review and then hopped onto a train back to Jakobstad. We got back and one of our ward members picked us up at the train station along with everyone else I swear in the entire city. So many people got off at this stop. He drove us back home and when we got back home we made some dinner and called our investigators to see if we could still meet with them... but they were not home so they couldn't meet. So after dinner and for the rest of the night we went to fix elder Roylance bike and changed the brakes on it and I found an extra snow tire that fit my bike... so while he fixed his bike I changed the tire on my bike and got that all fixed up and that was about our day.
Sunday was a really quick day for us. We had church and that was very good. We sang some christmas songs and some members spoke about christmas. We also didn't have to translate today so that was relaxing as well. Then after church we were chatting with members and had tp head home real quick to change out of our suits cause we didn't want to wear them all Sunday... and we biked to a dinner appointment. It was the nice 30 min bike ride and it seemed like forever. Don't know why... but my legs were just not feeling it today. But we had some good fish and for dessert we had cake so it was good. Then while we were there they invited us to go caroling with them. So we biked back to the church to meet the rest of the people for caroling after our dinner appointment ...but there was only 5 of us and the people that invited us didn't even come Haha. But then we jumped right into caroling and we went to sing at some old folks homes and that was way fun! We sang in both Swedish and Finnish depending on where we were.. but it was way fun!! And then we went home and studied Swedish for the rest of the night and it was good.
That's the week and it's a shorter one Haha.
Merry Christmas y'all!
Elder Love Out
