#12 Trips to Oulu...early birthday fun...and lots of interesting people!

What's happening to all my good ole American Peeps?!:) This week has just blown by, but it has been really fun! It has literally rained every single day this week, but it's been fun. We got some snow last night and the snowflakes were I swear as big as golf balls, but it never stuck to the ground so really there is no snow yet. Now that's enough with the weather report :).

So just to start off with a funny story:)Last P day I was going to do my laundry and so I whip open the laundry room door and I guess my foot was a little farther out than I thought... so the door just so nicely bounced right off my foot and came back and kung fu´d by the door and it came back and smacked me in the face haha. I was laughing pretty hard cause that was something that I was not expecting and I lost to the door:). Typical me!!.
Wednesday: It was district meeting. So we got to take a train up to Oulu and hang out with the district. District meetings are so fun because we just have a party. We have 10 people in our district, so it's a lot of fun :). While we were waiting for the train to come pick us up, Elder Reed, Haws, Viitanen, Crump, Lewis and me were all just joking around and having a really fun time. So then we took our train back to Kajaani and we just finished the night with some street contacting and that was about it for that day
Thursday was a really interesting day just because of this one guy we met :). So we went out tracting and we were tracting almost all day just going to every door. Got lots of doors slammed in our faces, lots of people tell us no, met a few strange people as well and the strange people always turn out to be really good stories haha. So we had been tracting all day and we were about to go back and eat some dinner.. and we knocked on this on guy's door. He was so excited to talk to us and we are thinking this is great!  Turns out this guy is so drunk and we learn that really quick. So we try to keep it quick, but this guy just keep chatting!! Rambling on and on about all these random things. Then he just breaks down and starts crying and is just sobbing.. and me and Elder Reed have like no idea what to do.. so we stand there and talk and try to make him feel better. Then in a matter of like 0.0001 seconds he is so happy and starts to sing us a song and this guy is putting his heart and soul into this thing. Like I felt like a judge on a Finnish American idol and he just sang forever.. and me and Elder reed are trying so hard not to laugh!!. But to top it all off for us he begins to dance!! This guy's about 65 and got some moves... and so this made it even harder not to laugh... but we managed to make it through. Then me and Elder Reed were just like `hey we got to go` and just left before he started to show us magic tricks or something hahaha. So that was really the highlight of the day cause that was super funny!!

Friday: We started out going to a new tracting area and we had some good success and it was a really good tracting session that morning. We got to teach my favorite investigator R. He is seriously so cool and it's just awesome to teach him. So we taught him the gospel of Jesus Christ and that was a great lesson. The more we have met with him the more open he has become with us and gives some really cool thoughts. A lot of what he already thinks is what we believe so he accepts a lot really well. We are working with him to see if we can get a baptismal date set for this guy, so hopefully we can get that this week!

Saturday: Been a really busy day today. We hit the tracting hard today to see if we could find some more people. Nobody is really ever out on the streets so tracting is where all of our success comes from. We climb thousands of stairs in the apartment buildings, and just start knocking... and when we finish that building we go to the next. So we went through a ton of student housing today.Even though it's a lot of hard work me and elder Reed have a lot of fun. We just chat about whatever and it makes the time go by so fast and it's fun. Sometimes you knock on people's doors and you see the most random things in people's houses.. I swear. Like we knocked on this one door and this lady opened it up and the first thing you see is like a 6 foot black mannequin wearing a peacock outfit resembling something that you could really only find in Vegas. So that was interesting and just a little weird to see by someones front door . But we have a good ole time. Then that night we taught our family from the Congo and that lesson went really well. We taught the word of wisdom and that we thought would be a little tricky. In Finland literally every single person drinks coffee and owns a coffee machine. Coffee is everywhere. So that was our biggest concern was trying to teach that. To our surprise she took it really well, she asked why we couldn't drink coffee and the member that came with us on the lesson started to explain it, and she was like okay that makes sense... and then she told us that she would keep the word of wisdom. Huge blessing cause that is one of the hardest lessons to teach here in Finland and she accepted it really well and agreed with it. So that was a great way to end the night. Just to let you know I say we taught them and I still really have no idea what is being said in these Finnish lessons. I can pick out a few words here and there but its super slow. Now with R I understand everything cause we speak English hahah.

Sunday: It was Fathers day here in Finland. It confuses me!  Why can't he whole world just agree on a day to have father's day or some other days that everyone celebrates. Like Bruh just put it on the same day for eveyone hahaha. But here in Finland we are not allowed to tract on fathers day and that is where 99,99% of our work comes from. So we tried street contacting and there was literally nobody out on the streets. The only people we talked to were either drunk, high,  or they just want to Bible bash you or they just flat out don't even talk to you. So we saw that street contacting was a bust so we went back to the apartment and we deep cleaned it. We scrubbed the floors, bathroom, kitchen, and everything. It looks wonderful now and threw out a bunch of stuff that old missionaries had left behind. So we just did that for a while and now our apartment is hecka clean. It was clean before but now it is spotless and looks wonderful!!:)
Monday:  We had another district meeting again. So we went up to Oulu and hung out with the district. The sisters were nice and made me some cheesecake bites cause they knew that my birthday was coming up. So that was really nice of them and then the entire district sang happy birthday to me which was pretty funny. So that was really nice of them. I have never really thought of my birthday as a big deal, just another day on the calendar haha ..but they kept on telling me it was a big deal and that they had to do something! It was super nice and the cheesecake bites were really good!!  I always love free food!!:)). Then after we ate I went out tracting with Elder Viitanen. He is such a funny guy and he is from Lehi. So we went out and tracted a few buildings and that was a lot of fun. Then me and elder Reed took the bus back to Kajaani. Now we had to sit on this bus for 2 1/2 hours... but it gets us back to Kajaani an hour earlier cause it leaves an hour earlier than the train .We took that  and me and elder Reed just chatted the whole bus ride.
That's been about all that has happened this week. Just another great week in Kajaani. Next P day will probably been a really short email cause we will be down in Helsinki!!! I will take the train to Oulu...then a flight down to Helsinki...and get together with some of the Elders from MTC and their trainers. That is going to be a lot of fun!!!
Love and miss y'all!
Elder Love out
