So with our little weird schedule and p day getting moved... we had a normal day on Tuesday kind of. We had district meeting and we also had our interviews with president. It's always good to get to meet with president. We get to meet with him about every 6 weeks and when we meet with him, it's always a lot of fun to get to sit down and talk with him. We had a good district council and we ate lunch with the AP's at the church after. Then we went back and did some studies and we started preparing our talks cause all the missionaries in the ward are speaking the last Sunday of the transfer. So we did that, we made some dinner and headed off to a lesson. We went and taught our friend who has a baptismal date. It was a great lesson! We taught the gospel of Jesus Christ and she said she wants her son baptized as well! Now granite he's 6 and has to wait ...but still that's awesome!! Then we spent the rest of the night and taught English and Finnish. That was pretty funny, I was trying to teach the recent concert how to pronounce the TH sound in English and we were just cracking up. He's getting better though so we will get there.
Wednesday was a fun day. We went to teach a new investigator and this guy is hilarious. But we taught him the plan of salvation. That went really well and we had a really good discussion and were able to answer all of his questions. He is just awesome. Then we went to do some people hunting. We have their address but haven't been contacted in a long time or just never answer. We went to see them and things are still the same... just playing a game of Hide and Go Seek and let's just say they are very good at hiding haha. Good thing we find others along the way! Then we went to teach our friend who was a former and had a good lesson with him talking about the holy ghost. We had a way good discussion with him and then he brought up the trinity and we told him that we don't believe in that. Well let's just say we already know our topic of discussion for next time cause he was way confused as to why we don't believe in the trinity. But an overall good day. We made the mistake of biking to his lesson, man that was a pain but the ride back was a breeze so I guess that's a good thing Haha.
Thursday was a great day, we had another day where we got to teach 2 lessons! We have been really busy these last couple days. But we did studies in the morning and that went really good. Been trying to prepare for my talk, writing it in English is the easy part, now translating is way different Haha
We met with one of our new investigators and we talked with her about the plan if salvation. We had a good discussion about that and she had questions about the holy ghost so we talked to her about that as well. It was a pretty good lesson and we are meeting with her again soon so that is great! Later that day we had another lesson with a new guy. He found us while on exchanges, he met elder Kimball and was like hey I want you to teach me. So we set up a lesson, he wanted to meet at a coffee shop and we taught him the restoration and about the book of Mormon and about the sacrament. He had a lot of questions but it was awesome! He's such a cool guy so we were pretty excited about that.
Friday.... our weekly planning day...so not that much happens... but it was a really fun day. We got weekly planning done but the best part was we met with one of our investigators. He has progressed like 1000 times more than he has in the last 5 months I've been here. But it was just an awesome lesson. We were unable to meet in the library like we usually do so we met him at Koti Pizza cause he had coupons. We had a member with us and we taught him about the importance of covenants. When the pizza came he stopped us and asked if we could bless the food which he has never done which was awesome. He understands everything really well he's just a slow move and that's okay. But at the end of the lesson we asked him to say the prayer and we have had him pray a few times and he only said one thing and then ended his prayer... but lately he has been making his prayers longer and they have just been awesome! It also made me a little sad cause in his prayer he prayed that I would stay here in Espoo. Well I've been here for 6 months so chances are really low... but it meant a lot that he wanted to keep me around for another couple months. It was such a good lesson, I know he will make it but it's just gonna take some time.
Saturday was such a fun day!!! We went as a district to Lohja! President wanted the whole district there and we stormed the streets of Lohja to tell people about this good message. We got to talk to so many people! Yeah many people turned us away but it was fun to get to work with the ward members in Lohja. They kept telling us that we were their teachers on how to talk to the Finnish people. It was so funny after a couple hours of contacting people one member was like "I dont know how you boys do this all day, I'm tired and these people just don't care. Maybe they would listen if we handed out free beer" and I was just dying and then like 5 min later they came back and were like "we should just start tripping them so they fall and have to listen to us" hahaha
it was so funny. We had a bunch of posters set up so we split up...and after a few hours the sisters came to switch us and we went and walked around the town. I was just trying to be nice and say hi to the JW's and ask them how their day was going and we got into a conversation about the weather and then I just start getting papers from this guy and he's telling me about when they met. And I'm like that's great bro but I ain't coming, wouldn't want to now or ever. I didn't say that but was thinking it. He was cool though. Then me and elder Kimball walked around some more and this drunk guy comes out to meet us to talk to us and hes like "do you have time to talk about Vikings? Cause I'm a viking" and so we are like yeah man, tell us about you being a viking. How long have you been a viking? "My whole life, I was born a viking" ... this guy was a hoot and such a nice guy Haha. We talked with him about elder Kimballs hair and he told us that he knew about Jospeh Smith and wanted to talk. So we told him we could come back another day and talk to him. Who knows the next time we will be in Lohja haha probably never cause it's a sisters area:) But hey not everyday you get to talk to a viking. I can now check that off my bucket list: Talk to a viking ✅ . That was so fun. Then later that day we gave a tour of the church to a members nephew who he and his wife are both returned missionaries and just wanted to see the chapel on their visit here in Finland. No offense to Fins but it was so nice to talk to Americans, like actual Americans. Not just cause it was in English but just I miss the American vibe. We got a good vibe. So that was fun. Then we taught a lesson that night and it was going great, I was understanding really well and speaking some of my better Finnish and I just felt so confident in the lesson. Then she went on to tell us right as we introduced the Book of Mormon that she didn't want to learn about another book and all we need is the bible. We tried to explain that we can learn more but she was just not having it. So that was kind of a kick in the kahones but it's okay. We have some other amazing people to work with and she will be ready another time so the pain went away quickly. But such a great day!!
Sunday was a pretty normal day. We went to church and that was really good. We introduced our Estonian investigator to an Estonian in the ward and now they are great friends and she stayed for 2nd hour as well... and her son went to primary for the first time and he enjoyed it... so we were happy to see they loved church! Then we talked with some members and it was a good ole time. We were in the middle of our studies and our new investigator that we just met with on Thursday texted us and was like "Can we go visit some member families today so I cam get to know them?" So of course we found a members place we could visit right away. We went to visit and he was so curious as to what a Mormon family was like and just had so many questions. He also wants to move to Utah in a few months cause there are so many members there. So he's been asking me about how often you see snakes, and spiders and all that. Been quite fun Haha but he is just awesome, hopefully we will get to work him some more before he moves to Utah but if not the missionaries in Utah will take care of him:). Other than that it was just a pretty normal day. I made elder Kimball and I some country fried steaks for dinner and he whipped up some mashed potatoes and we had a good ole fashion country meal.... and let me tell ya it was dang good Haha.
Monday was a pretty low key day, we got up and did all of our studies cause we had a pretty busy schedule for the rest of the day that ended up turning into a not so busy day... but that's okay. We went to meet with one of my absolute favorite people here in Finland. He's a less active and ever since I met him we just became instant friends. We have planned for next p day to go make t shirts with him before transfers. Oh yeah if I haven't mentioned already transfers are next week and we get the call on Friday to find out what's happening to us here in Espoo. It's been a good 6 months but I'm really hoping for 8 Haha. Then we went to help a new member family move in cause the moved from Oulu and that was way easy. I swear IKEA furniture is the lightest things in the world:). Then we set up some appointments for the weekend cause it's Juhannus which is just a holiday for people to celebrate the middle of the summer and party hard in the midnight sun. While us sweet little missionaries will be fast asleep. Then we went tracting for the rest of the night and then when time came that we were not allowed to tract anymore, we went to walk by the beach and contacted... but nobody would talk to us...so we started boat contacting and talking to the people on their boats that were by the walk way. Sometimes you just gotta try something new Haha.
Then today is p day and we are going to the temple!
Everything in Finland is kaikki hyvรค and it's just great! Have a great week.
Happy fathers day to Big Poppa! Your mini me misses you. Hope you had a great day! Love and miss ya lots!
Hope ya'll have a good week and stay tuned for next week to see what happens with transfers Haha
