#44 Saying goodbye to Espoo

Wednesday was a fun day. We had district council and we met with the district for the last time of this transfer. We had a lot of fun together. We did some language study with the APs there at the church cause after, they would be coming to our place for a mini splits. We went back and we started making some dinner. Me and Elder Christensen have been wanting to remake the glorious gas station hot dog with nacho cheese on it. So we had bought some makkara, and I made some nacho cheese. Now it was really good, not the same quality that you  will find at a gas station but still really good. Then we went to go out and do some work. Me and Elder Christensen went to follow up with some people, we tracted, and then street contacted. When we were talking to some lady this guy come straight for us with a fancy beer bottle and is like "do you want to try some?" And we are like " no thanks" and then he's like "come on it will be fun! You just have to try it a little bit. And hey if you don't like it that's okay, you just gotta try it" so we explain that we don't want to try it and we don't drink. And he replies with " okay. I'll leave the bottle right here for 5 min and in 5 min I'll be back so you can try it. You don't have to like it but I'm leaving it here for you to try" and he sets the bottle down and leaves. Me and Elder Christensen are cracking up so we pull out a word of wisdom pamphlet and set his bottle on top of it and leave. Well we went back to our place to see what he did with it, and he came back to see that we hadn't had anything to drink and found the pamphlet and was just so confused and me and Elder Christensen were cracking up!! It was pretty funny and we had a good time.
Thursday was a good day. It was a pretty low key day. Because of the holiday literally everyone was leaving town... so there wasnobody home to answer the door.  We did a lot of tracting so we got to talk to people just as they were leaving for their mini trips... all going to their mökki's  and so we didn't get to many people. We went to a members house and we had some burritos and shared a spiritual message with them. But they were in a bit of a hurry to go do whatever they were gonna do. A pretty slow day that is for sure. Then we did some more tracting and that was about our entire day.
Friday was transfer call day. And president called us way early in the morning so we found out really quick what was happening. Elder Kimball is getting transferred to  Hyvinkää and I am getting transferred to Vaasa!! I always thought it would be cool to get to serve in Vaasa in the summer time. People say its the sunniest city in Finland. Now you might be confused as to why we are both getting transferred. Well due to the lack of missionaries the mission has right now... they had to make some areas bigger and move people out to be able to cover everything. So our Espoo area is getting combined with the sisters area and the elders are getting kicked out. But when I go to Vaasa the elders there are taking the sisters area so we will have 2 areas to cover! Its gonna be so fun!  So after 6 months in Espoo I am leaving and headed up northward to Vaasa!! So that was the morning. We couldn't do really anything that day cause of the holiday... so we went hammocking by the ocean, we were there and then came back and made some burgers. They tasted pretty good and then we went to hang out with our investigator. We played some sand volleyball with him, went fishing and played the guitar. We actually almost caught some fish. We broke the news to him while we were fishing and he was pretty confused and not all that happy that we were leaving. But then we turned out alright cause he can still message us over Facebook. But it was fun to hang out with him one last time before we all move. Really fun night.
Saturday was still a holiday and we were not able to do as much but still pretty busy. We went to play soccer with our Nigerian friends and they were pretty sad to hear that we were leaving and we played soccer with them. We had a good time together for the last time. Then after we played soccer we ate some food with them. Never go wrong with some good ole African food. Then we ran home to get cleaned up and headed to a members house. We had late dinner with them and had a good time with them, it was sad to say goodbye to them cause I've literally been at their place every week for the last 6 months. Then we met a member after we left their place to go help him clean the church. We helped him clean the church and we got that done really quick. And then he drove us to our next appointment and we met with an investigator and roasted some makkara with him and introduced him to the sisters. That was way fun.
Sunday, we got to the church early cause one of the sisters asked for a blessing so we were there early to help with that. Blessings are such a cool experience. But then church started and we had to speak in church!! Holy cow was I nervous to give a talk in sacrament meeting but all the missionaries spoke so it didn't have to be too long but still Haha. We spoke in church and that went really well actually  I was the last speaker as well so I was really counting on that people filled their time... but we ended up going a little over so that is okay! We said goodbye to a lot of members. We waited after church to see the APs and also I was gonna tell mu old MTC teacher that I was going to Vaasa cause I saw her outside the temple on Thursday and she said "I really hope that you get to go to vaasa" well she showed up and I was like "guess who's going to vaasa!" And she was so excited and started telling me all about it and some of the stuff to see and I probably heard 1000 times "I can't believe you're going to Vaasa! That's so exciting!" And she also told me that it's not goodbye cause apparently she and her husband always go to Vaasa to visit his family so I'll probably see her a lot Haha. It's weird that the lady who taught me Finnish is here in Finland:). So that will be fun. I have already been on a lesson with her and her husband so the person who taught me how to be a missionary and speak the language was there to see me in missionary mode Haha how cool is that. Then we went to our Bishops house and since they are living at their summer cottage right now they have no food at their place so they ordered pizza...but that was way fun to go over there and eat with them. Then we went to teach a lesson and we taught with the sisters to do a switch lesson cause they are taking over and that was fun. Then we went to eat with the Filipinos and we ate on banana leaves and everything with our hands to have the full experience. It was way fun and it was a busy night for us but that was about it.
Now we got a bit of a busy day just saying goodbye to a lot of people and packing up!
That's all I really got for ya. I'll let y'all know how Vaasa is!
Elder Love out
