#98 American food and a Convertible

What a fun and busy week we had again! Here it is!

Wednesday was a good day and it went really fast! So we got up in the morning and we walked over to the track and we ran around the track for our workout that morning. I haven't been running in a while so that felt good. I guess I gotta start working my way to become a distance runner, even though I will never give up my inner pride of being a sprinter Haha. But then we did some studies in the morning and chatted with some people on facebook. We had a few random people message us, one guy wants to learn English and this other girl just messaged... but she seems pretty interested in the gospel so that was pretty cool. Had some lunch and then studied the wonderful Finnish language. After that we walked down to go meet this guy that had texted us and wanted to meet. So we met him at the library cafe and they had these small waffles from the Netherlands and they are way good... so of course you can't turn that down. But we met with this Lutheran priest who is a way nice guy and thinks really deeply... but we had a good chat with him. He also talked a ton and changed the subject pretty quickly so you had to stay on your toes to follow the conversation. Guy's pretty funny as wel...l he was cracking jokes the whole time. We went back and had some dinner and then went out for a contacting block for the rest of the night after responding to a few people. This one guy stopped on his bike to talk to us. He said he had talked to us 4 years ago but the best part of the conversation was this: " Yeah, yeah I actually used to work in the US!... Oh really? Where is the US did you work?... Baghdad..." So that happened . You learn something new every day Haha. But it gave us an good laugh. We then stopped to talk to this guy on a bench wearing shorts and a denim vest and his tan old winky hairy chest and belly showing. But he was pretty keen about calling us and talking about if there is a God. And he gladly accepted a book of Mormon. Then we contacted some more and boom the day was already over. But it was a way good day!

Thursday was a pretty good day. In the morning the Rauma Elders came over and stopped by our place before going to district council together. Also I was way excited cause I got to see my old companion Elder Kimball and we also found out while chatting that it had been exactly a year to the day since we last saw each other which was pretty crazy! We all chatted for a bit and then went to district council and met with the rest of the district. We had a really good district council talking about how we could work better with members and how members help the work progress. Then we all ate lunch together and that was way fun! We did some studies together after lunch at the church and then Elder Dossett and I headed home. We started getting some people contacted and talked with them for a bit and talked with a few members as well. Then later that night we had a lesson with our friend Piia. This was only my second time meeting her so we did a lot more of get to know and chatted about her history with the missionaries over the last 5 years. We had a really good conversation though cause I found out that after 5 years she is still an Atheist which was interesting and she had some questions which were good... and we were able to talk and discuss somethings and get her thinking a bit. But it was a great lesson! Then to end the night we went out contacting and then our day was over.

Friday was quite the eventful day. So in the morning we started out with a contacting block in the morning and went out when it was a bit cooler as well. We talked to some people but they were not all that interested. I think I may have accidentally scared an older lady when I said hi to her... but we had a really quick conversation cause she was trying to get away from us as soon as possible haha. Then we had lunch and did some studies and then hopped into weekly planning. We had the chance to get some good transfer goals set and make some plans for what we want to do for our investigators that we had.... and what the next steps would be that we wanted to take. After that we had to take a quick pit stop at the store cause we needed some flour so we could use it in our dinner. Well walking around the store I discovered the American section and of course I'm curious cause its 'Merican food and I haven't seen some if that stuff in a while. Well my eyes spot some Kraft macaroni and cheese so without hesitation I grabbed a box and I was very excited. But then out of the corner of my eye I spotted a very familiar looking red can with a football pattern on it. It was the college football playoff edition of American Dr. Pepper. Sometimes God gives a few tender mercies like that. So of course I grabbed a can and had that with my dinner. Oh wow that was amazing, a cold Dr. Pepper is something I haven't had in a long time...  but it was oh so good:)) Then we went to the center to meet our friend Ayush and we walked and sat on a bench down at the river to talk. We had planned to learn more about Ayush and his religious background so we could figure out what his thoughts were on things and teach him. But it turned more into a pump up Ayush lesson cause he was telling us how he struggles with confidence a bit and I think that is something that everyone struggles with. But we got Ayush all pumped up and we had a really good time with him. He's one of my favorite people here in Turku and the guy cracks me up Haha. And then we came back home and that was the end of the day.

Saturday was a really fun day. We did a service project as a district in the morning and we went to clean the church cause church is going to be starting up again next week. So that was way fun being with the district and getting to mix things up a bit and clean the church. After that..y the rest of the dag we did some studies and we went out contacting and facebook work. Contacting and Facebook are still pretty slow but we got a few conversations started... so we will see what happens there.... but the fins are the same online as they are on the streets haha. Not really chatty haha. That night we went to our usual weekly sports night and met a few people and had a great game of volleyball to play. We always have a great turnout so that's pretty good. And playing sand volleyball again is way fun!

Sunday was our last Sunday of having church together as a district cause they will be starting normal church up the next week. But that was way fun and the sisters gave a really good come follow me discussion so church was way fun! Then we had a dinner appointment after church with some members and they were going to pick us up and take us back to their place. Well Elder Dossett and I were just waiting outside the church and our members came rolling up casually in this blue convertible with the top down. And we were like sweet! We hopped in and wow having a convertible could be pretty fun... I throughly enjoyed the drive out to their place which was on one of the archipelago islands Haha. But we were just driving through the woods, fields, across some bridges and it was a way pretty drive. And then to be treated to some really good grilled burgers and all kinds of desserts. They went all out. There were some members from the Helsinki area and one I was familiar with cause they were from Espoo and it was way fun! Our members are awesome! It will be hard to beat that dinner appointment cause the Hiltunens went all out Haha. We shared a spiritual thought and then they took us home. Then that night we were just out contacting and we did a lot of Facebook work trying to find some new people.

Monday we started out with going out for a morning contacting block and we talked with a nice lady who was smoking and kept blowing her smoke in my face... but we had a good conversation. But as soon as we brought up the Book of Mormon she got in a bad mood Haha. I guess that's just how it goes with some people. We tried talking to a few other people but they just were not in the mood. We walked to mini Turku so Elder Dossett could see it and we took the bus back so we could get some lunch. We then did some studies and we worked on facebook messaging people and looking for new people and groups so we can get in contact with more people. We had dinner and after that we went to the church to meet up with a recent convert who was from  Kouvola. The elders there asked if we could help her out and meet her when she came to Turku. Well they were wayyyy late and lucky for us there was a YSA activity going on at the church so we joined them for a bit and helped out our elder quorum president a bit as well. I also got to see Sebastian who lives in Turku but his whole family lives in Pietarsaari so that was way fun seeing him again. But we finally got to meet this lady that was coming and we gave her a church tour and chatted a bit.

It's been a way busy week and we have another busy week ahead of us as well.
Hope y'all have a good week!
