#47 Cleaning/knocking doors and 3 languages at church:)

This week has been pretty busy!  We have had some cooker weather and some rain. I kinda feel like it's back in the Fall but we are still in July... so hopefully we get some more sun this week. It has been sunny as well and those days are just great. But here's how the week went and I hope you don't get bored Haha.
Wednesday was a busy but good day. We got up and did the normal things. We went to district council but this week was different cause it was all over Skype. It was a little different talking to everyone over the computer instead of them all coming to Vaasa. So we had a pretty good district council over Skype. We are the test group for the mission to see if we will go to Skype district councils... cause it costs a lot for travel to get missionaries places and time. But we were the first missionaries in Finland to do the district council over Skype. So that was cool. Came back and ate a quick lunch cause we had a packed afternoon. So we went to teach a lesson and we knocked on her door...but she didn't answer and just left us in the dust. Well we left and drove to the next area to tract, cause we had a lesson there. We got there and knocked a few doors. We got to his house and nobody was home. So he ghosted us. So we knocked a few more doors and then headed to a members house for dinner and that was way fun. We had some salad and pizza and that was way good. After dinner we had gotten a hold of the lady we were supposed to meet earlier and she said we could come over... and we taught her. Pretty cool lesson, and it went well. She told us how she didn't  need to drink and smoke anymore... and that she wasn't happy she was doing it.  But she told us she wanted to stop and was asking if what we taught could help her stop. So it was good. Then that night we had to fill the car with gas. I was so confused cause filling up gas here in Europe is a little different from America... but we got it figured out:))
Thursday was a pretty normal day. We started out in the morning going tracting and we talked to like 3 people all morning and  none of them really wanted to talk. We knocked a lot of doors and nobody wanted to answer... and if they did, it didn't last long Haha. We then went back for lunch and studies. After we did studies we biked out to an area to go tracting and follow up with some formers... and all we got were a bunch of dogs barking at us hahaha. But we still enjoyed our time out on the streets tracting. We came back for some dinner and were planning on going to a lesson... but that fell through... so we were going to an area to tract and we followed up with a ton of people. Lots of people had moved and lots of people were not interested. We were walking all over the place but we followed up with them and met some other people in the process. To end off the night we went  back and started calling people. Since we are trying to find all the people that are interested so we can move them to the app and get rid of paper records... we have a lot of people to call and visit.
Friday was a pretty busy day. We had a good tracting block in the morning and that was good. We came back and we ate some lunch and did some studies and then we started weekly planning again. I literally feel like we just weekly planned so that week went by fast... cause I thought we had just done it:)). But we did some weekly planning real quick cause we had to hurry and got help a member grab some stuff from the sisters apartment... so we helped them move the washer and dryer and some desks and other stuff. Washing machines are kind of a pain in the butt but we got it Haha. We helped him move the stuff from that apartment into his apartment and that was fun. We then hurried over to a members house for a DA and we had some way good potato ham thing.. I'm not really sure exactly what to call it but it was good:). We had a good time chatting with them and got to know them. Then for the rest of the night we went out and tracted for a bit and then contacted the rest of the night.
Saturday was a busy day. So headed out to tract and follow up with some people in the morning and we only had about an hour cause we were headed to the sisters apartment to let members in so they could get what they wanted. The church is just donating all the stuff for free. So the members came by and took what they wanted and needed. There were so many people... but we were moving a lot of stuff... like we moved beds, couches, microwaves and all other kinds of stuff. But a lot of members showed up to take stuff which was great... cause it makes it easier for us to clean on Monday:). So they came and took a ton. Then we went back for lunch and studied a little bit. We went to play some soccer after with some ward members and friends... and then this big group of guys from Nepal  wanted to play us. Now I have experience playing against Nigerians but people from Nepal? Yeah we got our butts kicked... these guys were good:)). But it was fun. After that we went back for some dinner and then we went and tracted the night out and followed up with people. We came back and started calling people in the area book and tried to do some work on that as well.
Sunday was a pretty good day. We had ward council in the morning and that was really boring cause we didn't say a word:)). They didn't even talk about missionary work so we just sat and listened Haha. Then church started right after and a member from the Espoo ward was visiting a friend in Vaasa... so that was way cool to see him! He is such a cool guy and helped us on some lessons.. so that was way fun to see him. They asked me and Elder Chugg to get up in sacrament meeting and give our testimonies... so we did that and it went well. For the second hour I went with the young men to their class and that was a lot of fun. Granite a lot of the class was in Swedish... cause that is better for them and the teacher was a Swede as well. So they thought it was funny to have me read stuff in Swedish:)). But it was crazy cause like there would be Swedish one second, then people would just start speaking Finnish, and then occasionally they would speak in English. So it just  came down to whatever language they wanted to speak:)). After church we went back and did some studies and then went to a members house for a late lunch and we ate with them. They are a really fun family so it was fun getting to know them and talk with them. We had like some beef macaroni stuff that was pretty good. And the back of their house just faces the woods and they have these huge windows so it looks way cool. We came back to finish our studies and then headed out to visit a friend down the street. He told us that he hasn't drank in 2 weeks! So that was awesome to hear. He's doing great and looking great as well. It's so cool to see how determined he is to stop drinking and he's sticking to it. We chatted with him for a while.. he was telling us fishing stories and showing us pictures of fish that he has caught and we just kinda talked about anything and everything. We shared a spiritual thought with him before we left and it was a really good visit. We came back and had some dinner and then headed out to go tracting. While tracting we ended up going to visit a less active and he let us in and for the first little bit while we were chatting me and Elder Chugg were way confused at what was going on... cause this 80 year old man was going on and on about kayaking. I don't know how we got there but we did and we were there for a while Haha. But then after his visit  it was 8 so we drove back and street contacted and made some phone calls and that was our day Haha.
Monday not gonna lie was an uneventful day. We had to clean the sisters apartment and that took us like 6 hours to do. So that just took forever and there was a lot to do. And then we did some studies and we went out to follow up with some formers and not too many people were home. One guy told us to go away from the building and he like shood us away Haha. But that is about it.
Other than that it was a great week here in Vaasa and it was for sure another quick week! Hope ya'll have a good week!
Elder Love out
