#48 The mission is a lot of fun!

Another week has just flown by here in Vaasa!
Wednesday was a way fun day! So Tuesday night the Pietarsaari Elders came and we did a little bit of work with them before we had to head home. Not much happened that night but still good.
Wednesday morning Elder Ames and I went out in the morning to follow up with some people before we had to go to district council. Lucky for us we got to talk to 1 person who was home so that was way good. We went to district council and it was pretty good. It was fun to see everyone again cause last weeks district council was all on the computer. And we all ate lunch together so that was way fun as well. Then we went back and we did some studies and got stuff ready for the rest of the day. After language study we headed out. Me and Elder Hale hopped in the car and we had a 45 min drive to where we were going. We had a lesson set up which we didn't know if it was gonna happen... cause they never got her number... and it was set up like a month ago. All we could do was drive out and see if she knew  we were coming.. and teach her if she still had time. So me and Elder Hale road tripped out there and it was a ton of fun. We had a lot of fun just chatting about anything and everything. We got to this lady's house... now since we didn't have a third man with us we couldn't go inside to teach her. We didn't try to bring one cause we weren't even sure if the lady knew we were coming. But we got there and she was happy to see us. We explained that we couldn't come in to teach unless there was another man. We told her if we could teach her outside or go for a walk and talk. So she went and grabbed  a coat and her walking sticks. Here we are in this small city, walking on this road in the woods and cars are driving by... I swear like every 5 min... and there we are walking and teaching about the plan of salvation. Then we stopped and she showed us where she had read in the book of Mormon and we answered her questions about that...and explained more about the book of Mormon. It was a great lesson and she said we could come back! Then me and Elder Hale went and got some kebab for dinner and finished tracting the night out and it was way good. We came back and met up with Elders Chugg and Ames and we had ice cream and talked for a really long time. Way fun day!!
Thursday we said goodbye to the Pietarsaari Elders and they left in the morning. We had gone out and gone tracting and not much really happened. We didn't find anyone which was okay. Later that day after studies we had a lesson with a new person set up..and we went over and taught the restoration. It was an alright lesson but a little hard cause you would ask him a questions and he wouldn't answer it... but he would start talking about something else. So that was a little hard. But then after, we had another lesson set up with a less active member and that was way good. We talked about the plan of salvation and we talked about being able to live with our families forever and how we can become like God. It was really fun to talk with him about that. He had some way good thoughts as well which was great to hear. We came back and had some dinner and went out tracting in a another area. We were kinda getting wrecked by people saying no. Then we knock on this one door and that lady was like "give me the book, I want the book" and I'm like okay here you go. And she said we could come back and that was awesome. Then the next door the guy was not very happy that we were there and had a very not kind way of telling us to go away. And then the next guy was like "where you from?" We say "America" and then he's like " oh that's just a terrible and evil place to be from. You don't have Trump in your church do you?"  We tell him no and he was happy to hear about that. But he wasn't I interested either. Kinda bugs me when people slam America when they have never even been there. But he was a nice guy. And the last lady we talked to for the night, stopped us as she was outside... cause she loves talking to the "Mormon Missionaries". She was just asking us about Finland, we talked about the people, the sun and all kinds of stuff. She wasn't  interested but she was way nice. So it was fun talking to her.
Friday was a busy day. We got up and did the usual and headed out. We went out to tract and we were going through and not many people home. We met this way cool guy though who said he would be interested  in learning and he was a way nice guy... so I'm excited about teaching him.  Then one of our investigators texted us and asked if we could come over and talk a little bit. They had just come back from the hospital and we were having a harder time. I was sitting there on the couch and all of her cigarette smoke was just getting blown right on me...and I was like trying to blow it all away so I wouldn't smell too bad after we got out:) Thankfully she told me she'd put it out so she didn't blow smoke on me. But we got another lesson set up with her for the next day so that was good. We went back home after and we ate lunch and then did weekly planning. When weekly planning comes I kinda feel like that's all we do. It comes and goes so fast.  But we weekly planned and then made some way good like Mexican tortilla soup. We found the recipe in the apartment and it was pretty good. Then we went out tracting for the rest of the night and we got a lot of people to answer... but pretty much they all said no Haha. But it was a good night.
Saturday we went out tracting and we were in a newer area and we were walking all over the place cause we had no idea where we were going. Good thing Google maps helped us out though Haha. But we had some aight conversations with people. Nobody wanted to listen to us. We went back and had some lunch and studies and stuff. We were going to teach that lesson with the lady we set  up with the day before... buy she canceled on us. So we went and tracted in that area like we had planned....and we went and followed up with that guy who said he had a dream about us coming. We probably won't be going back there after this last visit. He was telling us that that cops are always there  looking for him and the Insane Asylum people are looking for him as well and claims they have something out for him. But apparently everything is okay about that because Jesus talks to him every morning and tells him what his days gonna be like. We thought it would be safer for us not to go back cause this guy could flip literally at any second... and it doesn't help that he's drunk and high. So he was a nice guy but we will probably just see him around. We tracted some homes and headed home for dinner. And then for the rest of the night we went out to tract in an area that we haven't been to this transfer. Part of it is on an island and the other part was was across the bridge... and so we went tracting there to check it out. Just a bunch of people switching from Finnish to Swedish... so they didn't have to talk to us. Ourr Swedish is not that good so it was a little hard to try to keep things going. But we had a good time tracking and seeing a new part of Vaasa. Things are a little slow in Vaasa right now. Nobody wants to listen to us and people cancel their appointments when they meet with us... but that's okay. We can't force people to learn about the Gospel... it's their choice. One day they will want to listen to figure out what these missionaries have been saying all these years if coming to their door. We will find them eventually Haha.
Sunday was a good day. Not much happened. We had church and there was literally nobody there. A lot of people were gone this week for some reason. I may have missed like some Finnish holiday or people are just gone cause it's the summer. It seems to be a common trend here in Finland haha. But a couple from the Espoo ward where I served were in Vaasa.. so it was way fun to see them again. It's always good to see members or people from where you used to serve. After church we had a meeting with the ward mission leader and talked about how we can get members more excited for missionary work. Then we went back and did some studies and then we  went out and tracted. We knocked a lot of doors and we got a lot of No's haha. We talked with some Jehovas Witnesses but that's about the closest we got to talking about the gospel with people:))
Monday we had some lessons set up and we were excited to go teach them for the first time...but they dipped faster than chips going into a salsa bowl. We got pretty wrecked by people not wanting to listen to us. But that is okay cause one day they will be ready to hear the message of the restored gospel. We did meet with a less active member and this guy is so fun! We heard the same stories about kayaking over again and a few other stories:)). It was really fun though and then we went through Come, Follow Me with him and he enjoys that. We also promised him we would get him a new bible cause his is from the 30's. So he is excited to get that new bible. But we read about the apostle Paul and talked about how we can share the gospel and the love of Christ through the things that we do. It was a way good conversation with him. Today we are gonna go hammocking and fishing so we will see how that goes Haha.
The mission is so much fun and I'm loving the time that I have here. Hope y'all have a good week!
Elder Love out
