Guess what? We had some more travel this week:) We had some pretty good food this week as well and got to see some way good friends from an old area. Here's the week:).
Wednesday was quite the day and pretty busy for us with travel. We had district council in Vaasa... so we hopped on the bus that morning and we bussed down to Vaasa. It was way fun to see the district again but also really fun cause I got to see Vaasa again. We had a pretty good district council and we ate lunch together. We helped the Vaasa elders out after our meeting to set the church up for their church tour they were helping out with. A member in their ward had invited like 20 of her friends to come to see the church and learn a little about it. What was awesome was I got to see a lot of members again from Vaasa... so that was way fun!! It's always good to see members again. But we didn't get to stay long cause we had to bus back (1 1/2hrs) to Pietarsaari and help out with the youth night there. So we bussed back, had some studies and dinner and then went straight to the church. The girls there were pretty hyper this week:)) and so we sang our usual christmas songs and then we started our crafts night. We were making little angels. But I didn't get to quite finish mine cause I took to long trying to make the yarn hair look good Haha. We finished the night off with a couple of good games of volleyball... so it was a lot of fun. Then we went home and studied Swedish.
Thursday we got up early and hopped on a bus and headed back to Vaasa for splits. We wanted to try to stay Wednesday night but our members really needed our help with the youth night. So we bussed back down to Vaasa for splits. We got there and we did our studies that morning and then had some lunch. Then we had to start our prep for the thanksgiving party that we were having with a lot of our friends. So the Vaasa elders were making lasagnas and I started making an apple pie. Elder Roylance was just running around helping us all out making everything Haha. But we had a lot of food to make and then went to the church to set up for it. It turned more into a multi cultural food night:)). We had food from Slovenia, Japan, Spain, Brazil... we were gonna get some food from Bangladesh but his food burned so he brought a pizza haha. But we had a lot of food and it was way fun. We went around and had to say what we were thankful for when we ate the food that we prepared....and it was so fun to be back in Vaasa with a bunch of friends that I had made while serving there. It was awesome to see them and get to have our "Friendsgiving" with them. After stuffing ourselves with food we watched the new Nativity movie with them all and talked about Christs birth and the nativity. We also had a big conversation about the word of wisdom and the law of Chastity during dinner. I don't remember how we got there but it was way good. Then we finished off the night with some ping pong like we used to play when I was there serving in Vaasa. The best part of the whole day was getting to see so many of the friends that I had made while being there and getting to talk with them again.
Friday we got up and and got out early. Me and Elder Andersen went tracting together first and that was way fun. It was like taking a step back into last transfer when me and him served together in Vaasa. It was way fun.. we met this way cool lady from the Congo and she took a Book of Mormon which was even cooler. But we had a good time catching up and just chatting while we were out doing the good work. Then we went back and had some lunch and then we went back out again. I went tracting with elder Frisch. This block was a little slower cause literally nobody was home. All four of us went to the same neighborhood and we got to talk to a Jehovas Witness for like 2 minutes and then a nice little Swedish girl for like 2 seconds and that was it. Elder Roylance and Andersen didn't get anyone cause nobody was there. So it was slow for all of us but we had a good time Haha. We drove back to pick up our stuff and the elders dropped us of at the bus station. Walking to the bus I ran into one of the members and snagged a quick picture with him and then hopped on the bus. On the bus ride back we got some cool pictures of the sun setting at a little bit before 3 in the afternoon..the rest of the bus ride was driving in the dark cause the sun had gone down Haha. Halfway through our bus ride we got an email from President talking to us about our release date....which me and elder Roylance talked about for the rest of the day. Not exactly the thing you want to talk about quite yet, we still feel like we are still young in the mission when in reality we are getting older and older:)) When we got back...we biked to the post office to pick up some Book of Mormons we had ordered and biked back to the apartment. I was pretty excited as well cause I had also finally gotten my Swedish name tags... so that was exciting. We got back and had some dinner and then went to the church and baked gingerbread cookies with an investigator and talked with them. And that was about all that happened that day.
Saturday was a really busy day for us. So we did our studies in the morning and then went to go do some service to our disabled friend. We helped him put some Christmas decorations up and moved stuff to his garage for him. It was a little hard on the outside cause of all the snow. You couldn't get stuff set up in the ground all that well but we got it Haha. We then biked back home and got changed and then biked straight to a lesson. We were pretty sad when we got there and they had their friends over. Apparently they had a party to celebrate black Friday... so they all got drunk and high and woke up when we got there. So we had a pretty serious talk at the door with them that we were not gonna come over if they kept smoking weed while we are there or drink while we are there. But I'm not sure how much they got cause they were high when we talked to them. Me and elder Roylance were pretty disappointed when we left there. But we went back and made a late late lunch and a tad bit early dinner but we ate and then went to another lesson. This was with a guy I had never met and elder Roylance had only met a few times... but never taught him. But we had to figure out if he was safe to teach so that's what we figured out in that time with him. And we were happy to hear that he is safe to teach and he even asked if we would be able to come over twice a week so that is pretty good. That's what we want but most people tell us no Haha. So that was great for us and a good pick me up after the last lesson we had that day. Then we went back home and had weekly planning to do cause we had not been able to do that yet. So we finished the night with weekly planning and with some Swedish studies.
Sunday was a pretty good day for us Eldster here in Jakobstad. We went to church and had a good time with our members and our one investigator. They had a musical number in church as well so that switched things up s bit. They don't happen too often here. I think that was the second musical number I've seen on my mission here in Finland. But after church we were just chatting with our members and helping them with stuff. We went home and got a few things to keep us warm cause we had to bike out to a dinner appointment and it takes about half an hour....but with the snow and ice we were closer to 40 which wasn't too bad. But the bike ride was wayyy worth it. It was our branch President that we ate with and him and I were talking and we bonded over our love for Carrie Underwood haha. Turns out he is quite the country fan himself. So that was fun talking about country music with him. Then we had this way good chicken in some sauce over rice with homemade bread and a salad. Wayyy good. Plus a bomb meal to break your fast with. And for dessert we had cake and the best part of all. Home made Glögi!! Wow that was soo good. And after dinner we watched the new Christ child video with them and talked about light the world. By this time though and sipping through this amazing homemade Glögi I was ready for a long winter's nap:)) But instead of doing that we made the long track home and by the time we got home I wasn't tired anymore Haha. We got some survey from the church that we had to take and then we got an email from the teacher of the class we gave the church tour to. They had some extra questions. Well they are all easy except someone asked the question of if you can visit family in other kingdoms. Well that lead us on a very very very deep doctrine chase which I really enjoyed and learned a lot but sadly could not find an answer to that question. Good thing to know is that it will all work out on the other side so I'll just leave it at that Haha. But learned a lot of cool things from that. Then we studied some Swedish and did other studies that we had not been able to get in cause we were so busy during the day and the bike trip took some time. But other than that Sunday was pretty good.
That's bout it and all I wrote. Have a good week!
