#29 Soccer and splits

Hello to all y'all peeps back in good ole Merica. Finland has just been so much fun this week, and we have had a lot of fun here in Espoo!!  It's still cold... somehow it can snow while it's sunny outside (I haven't quite figured that out yet) but it is getting warmer so I guess that is the plus to all of this crazy weather, right? haha.
Wednesday was a really fun day! We started out by going to district meeting in the morning and it is always good to hang out with the district and get to talk with them. We have a ton of fun together and our district is quite the party and a lot of fun:)). Our lunch discussion was about whether or not when you eat a banana... do you pull the peel all the way off and then eat it... or do you peel and eat as you go? My companion  peels the whole thing first and then eats it because he says and I quote " My hand feels trapped by the peel " but the rest of us said you eat it with the peel on so your fingers don't get all sticky. It was quite the conversation:)). Then we went back and did some studies and then we went out and spent some time looking for our friends who do not come to church all that often. Lucky for us... out off all the people we tried to meet with... only one of them was home and we got a meeting set up with him to come back... so that was great!  And then we spent the rest of the night tracting and we had a few people who were interested in maybe talking later so we will see how that goes:))
Thursday was just a blur. We had to do weekly planning today cause the next day we would be going over to the AP´s place for splits. So we did some weekly planning that day and then had a DA with the same old couple that we had last week and the week before:). They are awesome and just so much fun.  That is just about all that happened on that day, we went and visited some members and then went out and tracted the rest of the night out and it was pretty fun.
Friday we went on splits with the AP´s and that was such a fun day and also a hecka fast day!! So we got over to their place around 11 and we did studies with them and had some lunch and then headed out. I went with Elder Christiansen first. He is from Florida and used to play tennis and baseball. But we went out tracting to follow up with some potentials and try to find some new people to teach. We had an awesome conversation with this lady from Russia who was pretty interested in learning more! But sadly she lived in Tampere so we had to refer her to the missionaries over there.... but that is still one more person who can learn about the gospel. It doesn't mater who teaches them right? As long as they are taught  But we went around tracting and not many people wanted to listen to us... in fact really nobody would listen to us. We only had one lady let us introduce ourselves before she told us she was not interested....sometimes you don't even have time to say hello before they closed the door haha. We also had a lesson planned to go to... and sadly that fell through. By then it was time to go and get some dinner already and we had been tracting for the past like 4 hours and it was gone in the blink of an eye. We came back had some way good food made by the AP´s and then I went out with Elder Weeks to go do some work with him. We went to a new area that he had never been to before and we found what is probably the only skiing hill in all of Espoo and possibly Helsinki as well:)) So that was pretty cool to see... people were skiing off jumps and it was fun to watch for a little bit. Then we walked by this castle, it could have been cause the house was HUGE. So we went to knock it and what we were least expecting, an English speaker lived there haha.... but they kindly told us no and we continued on our way. This tracting block went by so fast and so many people answered the door and actually talked to us!!:). We had some way good conversations with people and found some really solid people who might be interested to listen more when we go back... so it was a great tracting block with a lot of great people talked to. Then we came back and had some ice cream and chatted for the rest of the night and it was a ton of fun.
Saturday we got up at the Ap's and did some street contacting in the morning and nobody really wanted to talk to us which was okay, we will talk to them another time ahah. Then we got ready to go play some soccer cause we had organized a little game for investigators and people interested, or just some friends who liked playing soccer to come. Well, sadly nobody came. It was Elder Fitz and I, a ward member, and then these two 8 year olds that we found at the park and asked them if they wanted to play with us. One thing I've noticed... no matter how old they are, most likely anyone will come play if you ask them... so they can school some Americans in a game of soccer. So it was the ward member and the 8 year olds against us.  Our ward member played goalie for the kids and we played against them. And you'll never guess what happened... yeah that's right... we got our butts kicked by some kids in soccer... I think we lost like 9-3:)). It was not good at all but it was a ton of fun:)). That day we were just  way busy!! After soccer, we hurried home and got ready for a lesson that we had. The lesson went pretty good.. but was not all that interested to meet with us regularly... so we will see how that goes:). Then we went from our lesson to a DA with a Filipino family, and that was a ton of fun!! Had some really good salmon. Not sure why, but a lot of people hear don't cook their salmon, it's always raw. Now I don't know much about fish but I always thought that unless it was sushi...it was usually it cooked!. Well I was wrong... cause I've eaten more raw fish than I have cooked fish...and it's surprisingly not bad haha. It tastes pretty good:)) After meeting with that family we then headed over to one of our less actives who had invited us over... and we spent the rest of the night talking with him and he set up another time for us to come. We were pretty happy about that...cause it is so hard to get a hold of this guy. He keeps inviting us over to talk about church and the gospel so we will keep on going. He asked us to think of a topic so that he could study and we could talk about it together...so he could study it as well! He is such a cool guy!
Sunday we had church and that was a lot of fun. We then went to a members house for lunch   and then tracted the rest of the day out and it was a pretty good day.
Monday the funnest thing happened. We had just walked out of a building visiting a guy we had been teaching... and we stop this guy and he is not interested at all in the gospel... but is interested in what we do as missionaries and how we live our lives at home and on the mission. He just started asking us a ton of questions haha. "How long are your guys hours that you work?... What percent of people go on missions?... What do you do in your free time as missionaries:..etc." He had a ton of questions and we answered... and he would keep on going. He would stop and be like "What else can I ask you?" and think for a little bit and then he's like "Okay its trivia time, lets see how smart the average Mormon missionary is?" and we're like okay... and then he asked us " What's the largest country? Which city is the largest according to population density? What is the biggest company that can be traded in stock? Name five US presidents? Who are the Avengers?" And so far we have not gotten one wrong and he's pretty impressed ...and I think he had more fun than we did...but then it turned into 3 dudes just chatting cause he asked " If you could drive any car what would it be? Where would you have served if you could have chosen?" and what's funny is after we answered.. elder Fitz asked him if he could chose where he would serve and he's like "Id probably want to serve in Australia" it was just funny cause he had an answer. We talked to this guy for quite a while and it was a ton of fun and he had a lot of fun talking to us:)). It was just a random thing that really nobody was expecting but a ton of fun haha.
That is about all that has happened this week. The weeks just fly by and it's hard to remember everything that we did:) I've just had a lot of fun this week!!
Have a great week!
Elder Love out
